I can't say I'm excited!!! Jealous would be the word! SC has no fall season...I'm stuck with the deer, doves, rabbits and squirrels!

Nope not bad but I'd rather be turkey hunting!! I could probably shoot 200 during archery season out of the stand I'm gonna be in but I will just take a few lessons on calling and behavior and have fun watching them.

We may have to make this happen!!! I cannot believe you've not been in the fall!!! It's a different breed, but it's a lot of fun!

For you? We have about a week for archery and then Oct 1 for Fall firearm season!

Fall turkey opens sept 12th here. We can buy a tag a day and there no limit on how many we can have at one time, or how many we can buy total. Pretty much an unlimted amount something like 15,000 in the zone I hunt. So assuming they won't sell out of tags I can pretty much shoot as many as I want. 3 months of hunting too. *up* Got it made here in Wi.
-
I thought we had it made... YOu go much? Is there much pressure up there at all?
I'm assuming a pretty large flock up there?
-
I'm planning on hunting much for both turkeys and ruffed grouse which also opens the 12th. I've never ran into another fall turkey hunter where I hunt. Seen a few guys sitting on a logging trail in a blind with decoys and calling way to much but never anybody acually hunting them the correct way. We've got a pretty good population but I think the reason for the liberal season is there just ain't many people that hunt them.
-
I'd eat that up. Ruffed Grouse is also something I've never done. Went to Kansas last spring and ran into my first Pheasants... I about crapped my pants when the first one flushed!!
I hear you on people not understanding fall hunting. I was one of them several years ago. Once I learned, I love it. I'm getting better each year and ended up with 3 last fall.
-
I prefer grouse to pheasants mostly but I do hunt them my fair share since thats whats here in southern wi for upland birds. Nothing beats hunting with the dog.
hen from last november

can't find a grouse picture

That's sweet... I, one day, want to hunt turkeys with dogs. That's something I would like to mark off my list pretty soon!
-
Same here. Within the next couple of ears i'll have a dedicated turkey dog. When my dad still had the farm we would take my lab and let him bust up a flock. We had to run him back to the house before we started calling because he would have no part of sitting still when there were turkeys in sight.
-
We don't start until 10/31 here in Pa but i'll be headed to NY on 10/1. I don't plan on doing any bowhunting for deer unless my turkey tags are filled.

That's the way I'll be. Now if a deer comes wandering by, I'll take a shot at one, but I'll be focusing on turkeys!
