Got my first gobbler of the year and hopefully not my last.
Got my first bird of the year this morning. I called in 3 to the same spot. I took one, my ex boss missed 2.

19 pounds 13 ounces
10" beard and 1" spurs.
Not bad. Still have one more tag and hope to get to hunt Ohio some.

Scored on a nice Gobbler in Colorado last week , hopeing for a upgrade, blowed most of the beard off this one

Beautiful day for gobblers. I heard 9 on the roost and once they flew down they got very quiet. Made few clucks and a series of soft yelps on one of my glass over carbon fiber pot calls and a hen answered me at 6:45. Several minutes later, I caught movement to my left and this old boy came strutting in at 15 yds.
21 lbs. 9 oz. 10 3/4 inch beard and 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 inch spurs.

Took #3 for the year but it's smaller than #2 so I'll stick with it. This is my first true public ground bird taken from a State Forest in Ohio.

Last year I had just moved and didn't know where to hunt. I now have about 1000 acres to hunt and live less than two miles from the Ohio River. There is a lot of public ground over there. I'm having a blast using up my comp time and vacation exploring. I have one more tag to fill this year.
