Title: Honduran Rosewood Burl

Here is Honduran Rosewood Burl with Elf Horn  ;D (Elforyn) Mouth Piece, turned Lip Stop with some sapwood on the cap.
I've playing around with some different ideas, trying to come up with a little different style.  When turning a burl like this I prefer to leave some extra wood for beauty and strength..(especially after breaking some expensive burls). The most critical area is below the lanyard keeper. It may not show but there is a hip below the second ring which adds a little extra strength.

Dave,

Stellar as always, you have such great balance to form and function in your trumpets....tell me....curiously so, is the term "hip" you used for strength a turning vernacular?

Below her waist or midsection she just steps out a few thousandths to give her some extra strength, the beads draw the eye away from the subtle change I think. I've had trouble turning certain burls before and I didn't want to take any chances. I also feel a hunting call has to be built to withstand a certain amount of abuse. Lots can happen after the shot is taken, as I've learned!
