We’re going to give some new public land a try (Kisatchie National Forest). The area has some small hills, well big hills compared to where I live. I’ve located the streams/creeks, ridges etc and that’s where we plan to start the scouting. Most of it appears to mixed pine with some hardwoods near the streams/creeks. We’re planning to spend next weekend up there putting plenty miles on the boots. Any scouting tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

I've never hunted there... Sounds like a nice place. Best of luck !!

When you hunt new ground, public or not, you cant beat some of the new mobile mapping apps. Lets you know where you are, where birds are that you see or HEAR and how to get there. All without buggering them up. Good luck!!

We made our trip to Kisatchie. Found multiple hens but couldn't find the gobblers, we'll definitely be back to this beautiful place...............
