Title: mouth call help
Post by: Fl Panhandler on December 28, 2009, 07:47:42 PM
As some of you may or may not know, I had my third neck fusion surgery two weeks ago. After I got home I had to clean and redress the incision every day.  After a couple of days my wife and I noticed the anywhere there was medical tape it was severly irritated and I developed a rash around the area.  We thought that I was allergic to latex, but after some reaserch we found out the tape was latex free.  It turned out that I was allergic to the adhesive on the medical tape.  I had noticed for the last couple of years, if I had a mouth call in for any length of time I developed severe heartburn.  I was wondering if anyone uses a mouth call without any tape on it.  Just the frame only. If so, do you just ask the call maker to make you some without tape, and how much different is it to call without it.  Sorry for the long post.
Thanks,
Rick

I have heard of people using the frame on. I would ask the call maker & see what he says. I believe the old mouth calls were just a lead frame.

Sorry to hear about that!!

I know a man that is a master with just the frame, no tape. I have tried it myself, and, while it takes some getting used to, you can kill a bird with practice for sure..  *up*
