Title: Ralph Permar Roanoke Spool Call

Last fall I had the pleasure to do some PA turkey dogging with Austin Hornberger,Rob (Nygobbler) and Ralph Permar on Rob's Birthday. I am so thankful for turkey hunting and Turkey dog hunting I became close friends with a lot of guys on this and other forums. Other then the above mentioned Mike Lapp and Bob Smith have also become like family to me.  While we were hunting and I got  talking to Ralph about the calls he makes and asked him about the Roanoke Spool call. He explained a lot about it to me how it was made the design and such. He also told me Jim Casada wrote a article in Turkey and Turkey hunting about his call.Ralph I like dark woods and African Blackwood is my favorite wood.Ralph made this call out of African Blackwood knowing I like it the best. The bone mouth piece is from a big I harvested.

Job you got a first class yelper from a great guy. Ralph is a real gentleman and always a pleasure to talk too! Congrats on a great yelper and to have a hen bone from a turkey you harvested is extra special. I know you will hunt with it this year! *up*

Amazing call and not so easy to turn on a lathe, then again if anyone can pull it off it would be Ralph.  He is the call maker I hope to most emulate someday.

Nice one. I love mine. Ralph is not only talented but he is a great man to talk with. When I met him at Nashville he made me feel very welcome. Looking forward to many more calls from him.
