Title: Another one bites the dust , stick a fork in me.
Post by: Hillbillycallmaker on February 21, 2015, 08:12:20 PM
After 14 years in a row having a booth at the Convention I have decided to hang my glove up. Was going to go for 15 but it isn't worth it anymore. It has been good but as they say all good things must come to an end. I do plan on being there next year to celebrate my 60th birthday but have fun instead of working a booth on my birthday. *cheers* Who knows with the extra time I'll have on my hands I might even enter some calls and give all you boys a run for ya money ,  make ya earn them there trophies.  With the lower back problems I have, I doubt I'll even go back to visit.
Keep having those birthdays & you'll get there.

Hate to hear that Whitt. You are not the only one not doing a booth next year. At least you are still planning on coming though.

Hate hear that Whitt.... ,as long as I've been going -  I remember the Whitt booth -  stopped and got calls before we ever really met each other. The booths have got very expensive and it's not easy to get everything ready-  there is a lot it be said for just going to hang out and see friends !!
The place will miss a staple with your absence in a booth.
Look forward to seeing there though and there is always a seat for ya to rest those old bones at in my spot

I am sad to hear that. I have not been to the convention in a few years. I missed coming by your booth. You make some awesome looking calls. I hope to get to go next year. Hope to see you out hanging around us crazy convention attendees.

Whitt, I had a booth for the first time. Will not have one again soon as I missed seeing friends like you , Jeff, and many others. One of your boxes has been in my bag since 2008 and many dozens of Toms heard their last, yelp, purr, cluck, etc. on that box. Looking forward to seeing you roam around. Mark McPhail.

You and a few others have paved the way for the call makers of today.  Thank you and you and your booth will be missed.  You are one of the "destinations" at Nashville.

There is a lot to be said for being able to roam at will and not tied to a booth.  Been coming to the national convention since 1998 and tried it all different ways.  The most fun was when I could go from booth to booth, fellowship with friends, make new ones and put faces to the names.

NWTF needs to comp about 100-150' worth of tables to the true Custom Callmakers. If I were in charge, it would be a given that the true one man craftsmen get a free table and rooms at the Gaylord.

I would also make no demands for "free" or "donated" calls. I would make it  possible for a guy to come to the Convention and  at least break even.

Sorry to hear that Whitt. But I can see were your coming from. You'll be able to enjoy yourself moving around for a change. I like that idea of you entering in the competition. You put them in and I'll help push the bids up at the auction!!
