Title: my Nashville calls
Post by: jmck on February 18, 2015, 01:01:58 PM
didn't really realize what I hauled away from Music city till I got home and unpacked. Got to say als, there were a few I just didn't get time to get to with the booth. Here are my calls I was proud to leave with from some great friends and great makers.....thanks guys , I CHERRISH each and every one  *bowing*

Here is a special shortbox from a man for whom I owe endless gratitude to, Marlin Watkins. The little Snakewood/Butternut is 1 of 7 calls he made. It is the first Cost style checkered box he has made sense 1995. She is sweet and flat out easy to play.

a Scott Basehore scratcher made from Black Limba and Walnut. Scott and Cindy are as good a people as you will ever meet in this sport. They are ambassadors for this sport that we all should follow

here is a special sister to Clint Corders winning call-made from Macacauba. Clint had the wood 5 years and only got 5 blanks from it. Four were alums and this is the only slate. A call from a gentleman and Callmaker of the year and DD Adams winner is special to me---thanks my friend ....

Ernie is another great guy, as good as they come and he makes great calls. This Jordan is Snakewood with a little extra added in the transitions...that Mike doesn't have--hahaha. Thanks Ernie once again for another great call from you

This trumpet is made from some special Rosewood that Dels father has had for many years. The call is adorned with one of Dels special leather lanyards aslo. Let me say, this little trumpet is a player and I really appreciate gertting one from both of you guys and friends.....

Here is a great little scrather from Bill Henkel. Have a few of Bills gems and this one spits feathers just as all the others I have. This particular one is adorned with a little extra on it....my friend Kelly Pucketts woodburning. This call is greatly appreciated Bill not only for its sound, but also because it has Kellys work on it also---thanks my friend

Here is a special little cane yelper made by a friend and hunting buddy Gary Bunofky from Ohio. Gary and I were in the buggy with the dogs this past fall when we flushed a owl from a tree. He stopped the rig, and began telling me of how when the Indians were on their way to a hunting trip, that if they saw a owl, it was bad luck and they would return to the village for another day. The only way to break the bad spell of seeing a owl, was to see a king fisher. Here is a cane yelper he made me from a wingbone from my fall bird in Ohio at Marlins, featuring a owl on one side , and a king fisher on the other. This adds even more meaning to the call from you Gary---its cherished and shes a player with great finish work aslo---thanks my friend....

Here is a package from my friend at the Hooks Booth that Neal picked out for me. There is a glass, and mesh Hooks hat, and one of their special dymondwood strikers in black. Some serious turkey medicine right here and thanks Neal for getting these great items together for me

here is a call for a real character--douglas Herman, yep its a nail call. For those of you that haven't heard or played one of Dougs calls, try one. They have a unique sound and are meat calls. This little killa is made of Chinaberry and shes a player --thanks Doug for the great little caller friend .
