Well I gave it a try on a long box. Any tips, ideas or criticism(I can take it) is appreciated. I'm learning as I go. Using a walnut Hollow burner with the universal tip.Cedar lid with sassafrass body.I did the lid first, then turkey side then owl. Got a better feel for it when I got to the owl. Only managed to burn a hole through my shirt this time.

Well, we knew this was coming and I suspect we all knew it would be sweet. Kelly, I really like the flying turkey...well, I like it all, but I can almost hear the wings of the turkey as it glides by. The trees add a lot to the context and really help to make it realistic. Will always look forward to seeing more. *up*

I love the lid, man. So much depth and texture and realism in the gobbler head. I also particularly like your technique on trees. And the combination of different varieties of trees is really nice and adds to the interest and realism. All three of the panels are very bold, and I like that, too. Hard to believe it's your first attempt. Nicely done.

whew---unreal---the realism and detail is beyond description. You have taken all the aspects to make an entire scene and masterfully worked them into the scene.
You are very talented and like seeing the work !!!!

NICE work Kelly especially for the first time on a box.
A woodturner I know who does a LOT of woodburning on her bowls and other turnings recommends to wear a welder's leather apron while burning to protect your clothing.
