Title: Friends
Post by: M Sharpe on October 24, 2014, 11:48:07 AM
I joined my first turkey forum in 2009 and since then I've met numerous friends. Some I've never met. I tied a lanyard for a fellow at Nashville one year and since he has become a treasured friend that I see in Nashville every year and one I talk to on a regular basis. The list is too long to mention. I've made calls for people I've never met. but consider them good friends. To the point that their fathers can't comprehend. One example is Brad Colvin, a member here. His father can't grasp our friendship since we've never met. So, I decided to take it one step further and build him, Brad's father, a call. Here it is.......

Good looking call Mark and I know coming from you it's a player.  I understand your friendship.  Some of my better friends are folks that I've met through the turkey forums.  They are some of the best.

My dad told me at the end of your life, if you can count your true friends, on your 8 fingers and two thumbs, you are a lucky man. I feel blessed because I can definitely count my true friends, several times on those digits. Mark, feel blessed for all the friends you have made.

I agree with you Mark, Like others before me have said, some of the finest people I have met is through various forums either in person or just through PMs.  Very nice call you made for Brad's dad!

Thanks Steve and Bill!

Both of you fellas are right!! I've got numerous friends that have been made right here on this forum. Some I've never met and some by chance meetings at Nashville. I cherish each one of them! I've even blotched up a few, which I intend to make right, this up and coming year in Nashville! I consider both of you friends and look forward to meeting many more!

Couldn't agree more. I consider many of you friends even though we've never met, some I got to know on the phone and some just through emails. Congrats to Brad's dad on getting a fantastic call!

Yea Mark, you couldn't have said it better, seems like most of my good friends are right here on the forums, because they love the same things I do & I don't believe I have ever met a true sportsman that wasn't a man of integrity & true character, & I can already tell by the thing you say, you are one of them & this post of yours just proves it. I just saw this post.I mentioned in passing one day how my dad loved the calls I'v gotten from Mark and how intrigued he was at how our friendship has developed.  I told him I wanted to give my dad a Jordan yelper for Christmas.  Out of the blue last week I got a text of this call saying this one's for pop's.  Im overwhelmed to say the least.  The past few years have been pretty rough on me and my family but the conversations with Mark and a few others have really helped me through all of it. Thanks Mark for the call but more importantly the friendship.

No telling where I would be without the relationships formed over the years through turkey hunting and call making.  These years have been the best and Lord willing more to come.

Impressive looking call.

Nice looking call Mark as always. I have also been fortunate to meet some of the fellow form members and to talk to many more on the phone.  Turkey hunters and call makers are a great group of people and when the chips are down they are the first ones to be there to offer a helping hand.
