Title: Jet Black Walnut from Mahogany Man

Last week I received a text from Steve (mahogany man) about trying some black walnut that he had. He told me that he used some process to essentially turn the walnut jet black without using any types of dyes or stains.  Well I received the walnut last week and was so intrigued by it that I immediately built a short box and paddle call lid to try it out.   I will say that this stuff is as close jet black as you can get.  It looks just like ebony but works like walnut and it sounds pretty darn good on a call too.  Thanks Steve for giving me the opportunity to test it out for you. You got a good thing here.  Nice work  *up*

That sure does look just as black a goboon ebony to me if not blacker.  Beautiful calls Ed, not that I would expect anything different from ya!!!

Hey all... I know I don't get on here a ton, but thanks for all the fun I've had giving you guys something pretty cool. I ruined a lot of lumber getting this figured out.. but I've did it and it is CRAZY cool!
 Maybe one day soon (Really Soon) I'll learn how to make a call and use my own stock.. But until then, I'll be working on another special project.

 Just cant wait to see this one.... DANG!
