Bill,

We use them in Ohio.  I have a Ten Point, I use Rage 2 blades mech.  As accurate as a gun at 50 yds...If the guy running it does his part.

QAny model Horton crossbow will do a fine job. I recommend Rage 3 blade broadheads , they leave enormous holes in an animal. Some people use the 2 blade but the three blade heads are balanced better and although the length of the blade on the 2 blade models is longer, the 3 blade has more cutting surface and the more you cut the quicker you kill. The first deer I killed with a Rage only went ten feet before piling up. Last year I shot a buck at 40 yds and it had time to jump the string and I got a bad hit on it. The Rage still did it's job and I recovered that animal. Can't say enough about them.

I use Excalibur Crossbows. The one I use the most is the Exocet 200. Probably the simplest and most accurate bows on the market. The trigger pull is like a rifle, and it'll slap arrows out to 50 yards. I'm using Wasp SST Broadheads. Up here in Canada, most of the season is sub zero temps, which makes using my compound almost impossible, due to the clothes you have to wear. Late season hunting requires a crossbow.

Had a Browning several years ago and sold it.

I used a Horton for a couple of years when I cut my fingers off.  I used Muzzy's for deer and fishing arrows strung to my surf rod for turkeys... *wha*

The finger nubs finally toughened up so I went back to my regular bow.

I have a Horton that I have had for over 15 years. Haven't used it since I moved to a state that doesn't allow the use.

Just wanted to throw this out because it's an argument that always creeps up just like blinds, decoys, baiting/food plots, shotgun vs rifle, etc.....
I have no issues with someone using one. I have a crossbow, compound, recurve, & longbow. To each his own  *cheers*

My uncle hunts with me he uses a ten point , they are kind of heavy, and kind of expensive but they are one of the top of the line. He has a scope on it and can hit a bottle cap at 40 yards.. Shoots three blade rage, it puts em down..

My neighbor and one of my hunting partner uses them.  Both have had multiple shoulder surgeries.  Both shoot Hortons.

My neighbor would love to be pulling back a compound and I've shot his cross bow.  I prefer my compound, but I know why both of them use one.

The only reason I went to a crossbow was I could no longer draw my bow due my Arthritis. Then it got to the point I didn't have the strength to cock my crossbow. I have no problem with someone hunting with one. But always preferred my compound.

I reinjured my shoulder and can't pull my bow back, so my buddy is going to let me use his top of the line Excaliber. He has killed several deer with it out to 50 yrds. I have shot it several times, and it shoots great, but is a little loud. I tried the rage board head last year, very disappointed with their durability. Should have never switched from my Muzzy's, I guess I was caught up in all the hype.  Roc
