Title: 2014 Pa Gobbler Frame by Frame
Post by: etboxcalls on May 03, 2014, 04:02:29 PM
Hi guys, I was forutnate this morning to harvest this nice Pa Gobbler.  He tipped the scales just over 19 lbs, 10" Beard with 1" spurs.  I've been scoutning these birds for well over a month and have had some trail cameras out over a few strut zones.  Well this bird was making me work this morning, I used a Snakewood/ Chestnut One sider for 95% of the hunt.  I was back in the timber about 60-75 yd and he stayed on the edge of the field gobbling like mad.  I thought he would possibly use one of the access roads to come back into the timber to investigate but he had different plans.  He stayed on the edge of the field and worked right past me, when I knew it was safe I relocated to the second access road about 50 yards down the field.  He eventually broke back into the timber and finally made it to the road in front of me.  I was forced to watch him strut about 35 yds out in front of me for about 20 minutes because it was took thick for a shot.  I eventually coaxed him to work that extra 10 yds to my right and was able to make a clean shot on him.  The neat part of this hunt is that the final 5 minutes took place right in front of one of my trail cameras and it captured the whole hunt.  If you look closely to the right of the gobbler, you can see me set up.  Thought this was pretty neat, I hope you all enjoy.

thanks guys, it was a pretty awesome hunt.  I know its tough to see, and the only way I noticed it was flipping back and forth through the pics I noticed something.  I took one of the pics and pointed it out, right below the green line, you can see the outline of my head.  I knew the camera was there and hoped that when I shot, I didn't take out the camera as well as the gobbler, that is one of the reasons I had to let him work back to my right before I shot.

Ah, yeah, I see it now!  The original thread cuts that part off, for some reason???

This would be my Christmas card, if I sent them out:
