well we got a late start this A.M. due to both of us being dog tired. when we showed up to the public land the dudes were already gobbling on the limb. the closest one shut up quick, he may have seen us or something. A little farther back there was a group of gobblers were going off pretty good. A storm was blowing in fast and the thunder had them gobbling. As it started to rain they gobbled on the ground and a little closer. No one likes getting soaked but only a fool leaves workable birds after a 16 hour drive.
I found a tree I liked and started calling a bit as it started to rain. They never really hammered right back at me but would let know their location once in a while. The next time I heard a gobble it sounded about 100 yards in front of me. Then it started pouring down rain and clapping thunder like crazy. It was raining bad enough that I just started laughing about the situation we were in. I could barely hear myself yelp ROTFLMBO
I just kept telling myself to be patient and wait out the storm. It finally calmed down a bit and I got to yelping on a mouth call.the first bird gobbled behind us but I told Mike I wanted to wait for either him or the other to gobble again before I made a move. About ten minutes later I saw movement to my left, it was a gobbler adjusting his wings. I saw another red head behind him. After I turned a bit and got set the lead bird started walking and noticed a third gobbler behind them.
My 835 was following the lead bird and as I was about to shoot, the third bird caught my eye. he was about 15 yards closer and moving into a opening. once he got in the open and surveyed the area I squeezed the trigger. At the shot a fourth tom flew off as well. Soaked to the bone we got it done.
This is my first multiple bearded turkey. The fact that I killed him in the worst storm I have hunted in as my poor buddy Porter watched as he got soaked and he had 3 beards just makes it that much sweeter. I'll never forget the day I got Thunder Struck!

Congrats Dylan on a great gobbler and way to stay with em in the storm. Good old PA boy makes out good in Mo. *up* Hope you do just as well once you get back to Bradford!

Thanks Daryl and Bob. The beards were 10 3/4, 3 1/2 and 4 3/4.

I never dreamed I would get soaking wet to watch someone else shoot a bird. What Dylan forgot to mention was that it was also lightning hard and I knew we should not have been out hunting, but we still did *lol*
I was watching directly in front of me and I knew the birds were around when I saw ole dcole puff up. He was breathing so hard. I knew they were close by then and I found them in the timber then.
He also didn't mention this was a public land bird too!!! Makes it even sweeter :)
Now the monkey is off my back on getting ole dcole a bird in MO. Now it's having fun and enjoying hunting!
Now off to go 'shroom hunting!!!!!
