Any of you guys know where a man could get some checkering tool. I have been kicking around an Ideal but just don't know anything about what is what and which is which. Thanks for any help

Woodcraft sells them. Check with shadowturkeycaller if you have any questions. He checkers guns.
-
what kinda checkering ya talking about---standard checkering like on boxes or checkering like on gunstocks
-
Brownell's, Midway and Woodcraft all sell gun checkering tools.

I know someone you could ask *peep*
You gotta spill the beans to me :)

Jeff I was thinking about trying my hand on a box or two. Of course as with everything else you have to learn the ends and outs. I was thinking of size I think maybe 16 or 18 would be about right.

if its checkering like on say a cost style caller---try Swiss made chisels....don't skimp on cheap chisels---they is a huge difference in what ya get from them.
You will need 3/4" at the least to replicate cost style checkering.....you can use a knife and a steel edge to score the length of the run on the outline
