Title: Irish setter vapor trek
Post by: Roughneck on March 07, 2014, 06:34:18 PM: Snake boots just got a pair today very comfortable. Anybody out there got a pair if so what do u think bout them.

Post by: professorwingbone on March 07, 2014, 09:04:45 PM: I actually won a pair of Rocky snake boots over ten years ago at a NWTF banquet, put them in my closet and have never worn them. Put them on today for the first time. I'm planning a hunting trip to Florida this April and know that I'll need them there. I've got to say that they are very comfortable and that I might just start wearing them on all my hunts.

Don't know about you, but I'm more concerned as to where I put my butt down! Particularly, when I set up on birds on the roost! Those darn little pigmy rattlers, down in GA., are more worrisome to me! *peep* *peep* *peep* *peep*

Back years ago, I was hunting in Tuskeege ala with a landowner- he had birds roosted and we slipped in on em, sat down 20 yds apart, and a rattler began singing in the dark bewteen us!! We looked at each other knowing it was in bewteen us somewhere. I got out a pin light and it stopped rattling. We settled in somewhat as the birds began gobbeling, and the rated started up again. Suddenly, the guy went screaming and running/falling down the hill- I just knew he had been struck, ended up, he sat on the snake- it was in the pine straw deep where it was warmer- he felt the snake roll under his buttocks and quickly departed from his sitting position!!!!
Needless to say- with the girl'y screaming his was doing- the roosted birds were done for that day!!
The good news was that he didn't get hit though- it was quite a sight that morn

Don't have pigmy rattlers here in WV, but do have timber rattlers, and copperheads. I do watch were I sit my big butt.

BBBBBBBBBBBBBB-Rilliant I hate hunting snake country when I go.. I am more focused on snakes than killing turkeys.. Whole dang suit equipped with gloves would be ideal..

It was an accident as they were some mean looking snakes. I meant to move the thing gently with my gun and it moved on me. I screamed like a girl and flipped the gun, the snake went up in the air and landed on Daryl. His screams were way higher pitched than mine!

I hate snakes.. spiders and any other scary creatures. Daryl needs badger proof boots too. He was kicking a badgers den one day. luckily the badger was not home!
