It's not very often I get a surprise.  My mom told me that she had something to show me when I got down.  I went into my old room here and on the bed was something I have not held since the early 90's.  It's the gun I learned to shoot with and it means so much to me.  My grandma has given me my grandpas .22.  Tears were in my eyes as I held the gun.  It's not much, but it means the world to me.  I cannot wait to get my son to shooting this gun!  I remember it being highly accurate and the death of many squirrels and frogs!

Funny how the simple things mean so much to you!  Just an ordinary Marlin Model 40, but priceless to me!

I remember my grandad starting me on the same little Marlin .22
Congrats on the gift Porter- know its priceless to ya- now it's your turn to pass the experience and the gun in time to your son.

I still have my first gun, a 22 rifle made by JC Penny. Glad u have that moment!

This one shows Coast To Coast by Marlin on it.  My dad said he bought it at a Coast to Coast store.  I'm pumped to shoot it!

Get it cleaned up and get your son out there.  He'll have just as much fun as you did at that age and you'll have more fun than him.  Congrats Mike.
