Title: DEFT SPRAY?
Post by: KYTURKEY on February 01, 2014, 06:33:52 PM
Where can you get it?  Apparently Lowes doesn't carry it anymore. I read that PIG bought deft and lowes is no longer allowed to carry it, because of competition? Any help is appreciated.

Any Ace store can order it but you have to take a case 8 cans.

Lowes is where I get it .

I have been to 3 different Lowe's here and none of them have it.  Even went to Woodcraft, they no longer carry it due to the same reasons as Lowe's.  I just looked at Lowe's website, and it's not on there either.  It's not on Home Depot's website either.

use krylon crystal clear.  I like it much more than deft for wood.--Jason

The Krylon Crystal Clear satin WILL NOT hold up to any sort of moisture.  The gloss holds up well but not the satin for some reason.  Don't ask me how I know.  *fall*

hmmm.... interesting.  I have not had this problem and I am not discrediting you in any way.  I'll have to watch for this in the future when I use it.  Curious... how many coats do you apply?  If so, use the semi gloss then and if you want a dull look....buff it slightly with some steel wool or scotch brite cloth and dull it down.  I know the semi gloss and the high gloss hold up very well unless exposed to extreme heat.  However, Deft has gone to heck on me a lot more often in climate changes and heat then Krylon.  I think the Krylon is a more superior product.  I wont mention names but a lot fo the big name call makers use the krylon on their box calls.  Just my 2 cents.

I spray 3-4 coats depending on the wood.  Oily woods get wiped down with lacquer thinner prior.  I have used steel wool to dull down the shine, just doesn't compare to a product made to have a satin sheen.  The gloss Krylon is a great product, I'm glad the satin works for you.

Back on topic....Yes ACE has Deft except mine for some reason.  I have to drive to McKamey's ACE to take his stash.  I guess folks don't have much need for Deft on Highbrow Hill.  Aint that right Jeff.  ;)
