Title: Simply a Great Time
Post by: hunter22 on January 25, 2014, 09:31:57 AM
I always look forward to visits from David Young (drenalinld) and Robert Glover (Crawdad). They drove up from central Arkansas yesterday morning with the temps around 4 degrees. They got here around 8:30 and it sure did not take us long to have things fired up in the house with turkey calling. My wife for some reason had plans to be gone most of the day. She fixed some veggies and desserts before she left. She told us to have a good time as she drove off. I was shocked she did not want to stick around. I deep fried a turkey later in the morning to give us some nourishment to run all them calls.

I have told a lot of folks ole David has a God given talent not many are blessed with. The boy can flat out run any turkey call he picks up. By far the best I have ever heard. Robert and I just sat in awe as David performed his magic. I wish we had been equipped to capture some sound files. I always enjoy standing back at a distance and hearing him running some of my calls and hearing what they are suppose to sound like. Dang I have some fine sounding calls. He told me I have the second best sounding longbox he has ever heard. He has #1.

Robert pulled out a bag full of trumpets he is working on. He also has some new ones finished in some really gorgeous wood. Robert gave David and I each a trumpet from some of his older stuff. His trumpets have that "sound". Thanks again Robert.

We did not take pics of our event. I took a pic of the calls I had pulled out before they arrived. These were calls I knew David had never seen of mine. We got into my hunting calls up in the morning.

I sure enjoy getting time for a trip to Rickey's. He always cooks for an army of kings. The Mrs. prepared us muffins and and some berry crumble to tide us over to lunch. The fried turkey was Really good with plenty of sides then banana pudding and pumpkin rolls! After lunch we played friction calls because we couldn't breathe.

The time flies by when we run fine calls and tell big and bigger turkey tales! Don't be fooled by Rickey, he runs calls of all types very very well. After hearing him run a few my calling gets dialed in closer to turkey. It's sure fun hanging out with others that are as crazy about all things turkey as I am. Wish more of you lived close enough to join in.

Thanks again for hosting us Rickey!

Thanks for your hospitality again Rickey, that was some great Turkey & vittles you & your wife whipped up. I will also attest to Rickey's ability to use all those calls he has, no doubt David is great, but Rickey is very very good, they both make me very jealous in their abilitys to run every kind of call there is. Thanks for including me again Rickey & David, I am honored to hang out with two great guy's like ya'll . Crawdad

That is really cool, that you guys are able to get together. I would love to run some of the calls I see. To bad your wife did not get to enjoy the calling. *lol*
