Title: Serious Question about One Siders

To all the call makers and hunters who use them, what are the advantages or your personal reason to use a one sider. I have never used one. Can't hunt any longer so I never will. But they look so good and so many buy them that there must be "more to the story". Please be serious, I really would like to know.

I have a few left-handed one siders. I think the original intent of a one-sider was the simplicity in playing one. The lid angle makes it difficult to mess up on the call. I like it for the looks and the sound I get from mine. I used a Sapele/Spanish Cedar I got from Tim last spring to call in and whack a double-bearded gobbler in Missouri.

I have several and usually carry one at least once a season.  Like hunter22 stated... I think they are more to be fool proof :) 

I prefer a two sider personally... but each their own.  One of my first birds was called in to a one sider... 

I do know one thing... they work :)

A good one is user friendly and like Porter said Fool proof. I take a one sider with me on every hunt. Last year in our late hunt the only caller my gobbler would respond to was my SSCustom one sider!  *gobble*That poor love sick bird ended up in the roasting pan. *up*

Mike I don't know what it is about the onesider but I think they have a better sound to them maybe the way the sound resignates off of the high side that would be my guess. I was never a fan of them until I got one from Al and Josh then ordered another one and that did it for me.
I carried the onesider with me through out this past fall season and I am sold on it, if they are made correctly you can get the young hen from the front side the old hen from the center of the call and the deep gobbler note from the back end. A good one will also have a good purr to it so what more do you need. Of course I wouldn't do away with my doublesiders either, just my .02 cents.

You just have to trust your call maker I didn't think it was possible either but those VA. Rednecks sure put it together for me.

I've heard Jon's one sider that Al made, that thing is all turkey and then some! It is a sweet call for sure!
