Was asking a mamber on another board yesterday about a batch of persimmon I have that I made lids and bases out of. It's great looking wood. My first run at it was with cedar...and boy did they sound HORRIBLE---PLAIN $#@!#% BAD !!! I tinkered and tried everything to get em tuned and it was hopeless. Chalk it up to a lession. Then Blackfalcon gave me a hint to try some walnut with it. Now ---these lids sing and they look good together. It has a higher raspy sound and I am not really totally through tuning it yet---it already sounds real good. Sorry for the pic but I forgot to wipe the dust from tuning it before shooting the picture. Thanks for the idea Dave !!I just wish I had started a few more at the time I did this one. Its gonna be a few days before I can dig back into the shop for some r&r !!!
