Title: Henry Davis from Mr. Albert
Post by: M Sharpe on September 27, 2013, 03:26:00 PM
While at work, I had a package to arrive at home. So, for a couple of days I was antsy. Mr. Albert did not disappoint me either. I've been wanting one of these for some time now. One of his Henry Davis ebony over holly. Some big sounds come out of this small box.

What a beautiful call. Just curious, but what makes it a Henry Davis?

Fred, from what I've read, Henry Davis said that was the best wood combo for a box call. If I'm reading right, he had a Gibson call of that combo. I don't know how Mr. Albert came up with the name other than the combo it's self. It is one of his numbered series calls. Does seem a little ironic that a Cost style box would be named after a Gibson box design. Maybe some one that is more knowledgable about about the subject could clue us in. All I know is that it is a playing little call, smaller than a regular size Cost box.

Mark,

I couldn't  agree more with the wood combination. Holly makes a great call with a variety of lids, purpleheart comes to mind first, but with ebony, it is tops, no doubt. Congrats on a great call. Sure to be the demise of many longbeards!
