I have been waiting to announce this until everything was done and evidence was in-hand, and that day has finally arrived. So, here goes......I've written a book! It's sort of a biographical rendition of my turkey hunting endeavors, and I self-published it in both paperback and hardcover editions through Dog Ear Publishing. The title is "Turkey Tails and Tales From Across The U.S.A.," and it contains some outstanding original artwork by Wess Vandenbark ("flintlock" on many of these forums) to accent some of the stories. I want to thank everyone for the private messages, positive vibes, and orders...it's been a wild ride so far, and very exciting! Sales have been brisk, and a reporter is even showing up tonight to do an interview for the Outdoor Section of the local Sunday paper. Much fun!!

I finally got my copy and read thru it. Very pleased in that it is not another "how to" book. Turkey adventures all over the US and plenty of em! I like the way he wrote it in that its just like we were sitting around the camp and talking about it. Very personal and while I don't think it was part of his plan, I found that as I read thru his adventures it kept reminding me of similar hunts I have had over the years. Sort of a trip down his "memory lane" and mine as well! And it was really interesting to see the evolution of a turkey hunter layed out with all the mistakes, misses and frustrations. Been there for sure. While I know Doc and have hunted with him on several occasions, admitting to some prejudice here, I would encourage any of you who have a love for all things turkeys to pick up a copy. Amazon has them marked down a bit but if you want a signed copy (with his personal witty twists)....ya need to get that from him directly. I think you can pm him here as Hookspur. Side note: His last chapter on hunting ALL the states in the US (except Alaska) might prove worth the price of the book if you are looking to plan DIY turkey hunts across the country. Got it broke down state by state and looks to be updated to 2012. Something like 32 grand slams says he knows abit on the ends and outs of things. ;)

I just finished the book last week, and I agree, it was a great book....loved the stories!
