Title: Big rattlesnake!

This was just a few miles from my house.
How would ya like to sit down next to this in the dark?
13 inches around at largest part of midsection

I was told by the game warden in my area (Va) that Timber Rattlers were on the states protected list, as are Cane Break Rattlers in South East VA. By the way, they are considered to be the same species.

That is correct. This one had been run over in the road and was found by a maintenance worker

Here is a picture that hangs at Leroy Percy State Park in Hollandale, Ms.  The picture has been there since I moved to Greenville in 1973.

I believe I may muster some of that 4.5 sec 100 yd dash  ;D
that thing would break your leg if it struck ya----a mammoth snake.....BUT a good one now----DEAD !!!! ;)

Bill Jones, had one that was a bit over 12 feet long, mounted in his cabin. I've seen some big rattle snakes, but that one looked more like a Python!!
