Title: Thermacell: Real Deal or Gimmick?
Post by: MadYelper on July 11, 2013, 08:44:25 PM
I got a Thermacell via a Winchester ammo promotion, but didn't get a chance to use this spring. Are these the real deal or urban legend?

I would not hunt the swamps in NY with out one. They work that well.

It is the real deal. South Georgia turkey hunting has not been the same. That thing stays in my vest from year to year.

I would leave my calls at home before I'd leave my Thermacell at home.

I was so impressed with them that I now own 6 or 7 of them and never, never, ever leave home with out one.  I use it in archery, spring gobbler, while camping and any other time I need one.  I have been hunting in swamps where the bugs and skeeters were so thick you couldn't see....turn on the thermacell and in a couple minutes, poof, no more bugs.  I don't even carry or use bug sprays at all anymore.  Probably the greatest thing to come along in the outdoor industry in decades.  Buy one, use it and enjoy nature!---Jason

Some places I've hunted on the Eastern Shore of Maryland I would never open the truck door without it.

They're for real.  You'll like it when you use one.

It appears as though you dont need any more opinions, but they are great on our "Lowcountry Helicopters".  Turkeys cant smell so scent does not matter, where you really appreciate them is on early season deer hunts where DEET smell is a huge liability.

They absolutely work! When they first came out, I was hunting along the St. Johns River in Fla and the mosquitos were flying in clouds......except where I was sitting w/ my thermo cell!  RkLu RkLu RkLu

The real deal,The only drawback is you need to turn them on about 15 minutes before you need them so they can heat up.

Yes they work! I was a little skeptical at first but  they work well. Mosquitos, nats, even biting flies stay away. *up* *up* *up*

It is unanimous, and I look forward using my thermacell, even if it is to keep the skeeters away while I am in my rocking chair on the porch for now!   *lol*
