Title: New to site
Post by: kbbgood on July 03, 2013, 06:54:01 AM
Hello, I am new to the site and in awe of some of the calls I have seen here. I am interested in making a few pot calls for myself. Don't know anything about it though and have to ask, where do you guys get the stuff to make them and is there any good websites out there on how to make them. Notice I said GOOD sites. Any help I thank you for. Some of the stuff I have seen here is really cool. You guys make some beautiful calls.

1st question do you turkey hunt???  I know it sounds stupid but there is a reason. ..

What all do you have as far as equipment. ie lathe, drill press, table saw.
There are a couple places that sale pre-cut pots blanks, guys that sale glass/slate/aluminum.

Yes I do hunt. As far as tools, I have a few pieces of sand paper and a paint brush. HA Ha, no I don't have a shop full of power tools so I will have to buy premade pots and other stuff.

Welcome to the site kbbgood.  You will be surprised at how much you can do without a shop full of tools.  They do make it a lot easier and faster, but you can make a fine call with simple hand tools.  The main thing is to have fun.

Looks like you have a working relationship, with "Sanford and Son"!  *lol*

Actually, if you can keep them running and find parts, nothing wrong w/ that collection!

There's a bunch of people on a old wood working site that are just as crazy about old  USA American made tools as we are about our turkey calls. I love old drill presses for sure! I got 14 of them. The wife and Frank thinks Im crazy....... I guess I am. Coming soon a weird comment from Jeff  *wha*

Easy McKamey.... Don't be my first victim  *peep* *aah*

Bill. Didn't ya know where Brent got those pointed ears- it was Aunt Esters genes that passed the trait to Stoner  *peep*- now that relationships outta the closet Brent!!
Some folks have alcohol addiction, drug addictions and so on- Brent has a strange addiction to drill presses- instead of changing bits, he wants another salvaged antique press
 *lol*
