Title: Violin Rosin

Has anyone used Violin Rosin on the lid or rails of a box calls instead of chalk?

I have used it on box call lids in the past. I chalked the rosin, however. It did seem to hold chalk longer with the resin. With just the rosin it may grip too much.

Neil Cost would use rosin for box calls, when he didn't like the sound chalk produced. He didn't like it very much since in SC, it is humid and rosin didn't preform well when damp. I have only seen him use it on Cypress calls.

Tried it on several different woods and just don't like the results.

yep, like the others i did not like it.  way to much bite and caused inconsistent bite creating choppy strokes.  Its also a pain in the arse to get off your paddle too when you dont want it on there.---Jason
