Title: merriams in kansas...need advice

My buddy is wanting to get a merriams turkey in kansas.  I've seen conflicting reports about whether or not there are even any Merriams in Kansas at all.  Can anyone give me any first hand information?

  You may get some crosses in the very North West part of the state, but not pure.  You have to go to North West Nebraska  or South West, South Dakota to get a pure strain and even then some show sights of Rio cross.

I've seen two that could pass as a merriam in north central KS, but as stated, officially not recognized.

I am from central KS originally and still return to hunt.

I have never heard or read reports of Merriams in KS. Primarily Rios, Easterns and hybrids depending upon your locale.

Maybe more folks from N KS or Nebraska can share more insight.

I have seen them in Ok and Ks,probably were hybirds,but they looked like Merriams!
