Just curious, but how many of you have taken gobblers on public land? I know a couple guys that have travelled the country and killed birds on public land in nearly every state. To me that is really impressive. A guy that can consistently kill a gobbler on public land can kill a bird anywhere. Those birds are so pressured and so few in most places that they do not even act like turkeys I have hunted with outfitters or on large tracts of low pressured private property. Who has done it and in how many states and which ones????

90% of my hunting is on public land. I only hunt NY!!

Last year we took 5 longbeards on public land between my nephew, BigTom and myself. The last 5 years my hunting has been mainly on public land.

I have taken gobblers on public land in 6 states. Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. List how many states and which ones you have killed public land gobblers in. Thanks....

NY and PA for me.

I haven't had the difficulties that I keep hearing from a bunch of folks. PL is hunted harder, but what is have found is that all the hunters w/ little experience, run around before the season calling and spooking birds. Then they come in and do it all over again, once the season comes in. After a couple weeks these guys wear down and the birds start to respond.

Almost all of my turkey hunting is done all public land, in and out of state.

MI,AL,WV,MO,NY for Me... WV had the least P.L. Hunter Pressure of All my hunts ... >!!

My biggest and best birds have been taken on state land in NY.

I have taken public land gobblers in PA and NY my preference is private land at least early in the season.

I have taken several birds on public land here in KY. Preasured tough birds but that is why we hunt them...the challenge keeps me coming back. *gobble*

I've taken a public land grand slam and have killed public land birds in La, Ms, Fl, N.C., Tn, KS, S.D. but...I've hunted some clubs that are just as pressured and some worse though. The hardest turkeys are by far the most pressured turkeys. I also believe that states that have been open to turkey hunting longer are the most difficult ....

WV, KY, OH, FL and VA. Alot of the land we hunt here in WV is actually private corporations. They often provide permits to hunt/use the land for a nominal fee so it is just about like public land. Anyone and everyone has a permit. I think that some of the public lands actually get less hunting pressure in some areas.

Every bird I have taken in 25 years has come off land that is pressured and accessable to the public. I have hunted in WV, PA, Oh., and NY. Believe it or not, the majority of birds where I live and hunt most... hardly even gobble and that aint no bull. The pressure is rediculous. But hey, it makes for some rewarding hunts and helps drag out the season.---Jason

Before Ohio implemented our youth season which starts two days before regular season, i hunted state lands alot. Nowadays the youth season puts so much pressure on state land that i completely quit hunting there. I have taken stateland birds in Ohio, Ky ,In , and Missouri. One year in Ohio , i videoed a flock which contained 73 male birds with more than half of them in full strut. State land can provide hunting as good as any private land especially places like the Daniel Boone National Forest in Ky which is broken into many small parcels mixed alongside private property.

Here in NY its all puplic land .I always hunt them when they have a fresh mind if you know
what i mean .
