Today was the second day of youth season here in Illinois. The first day was 40 mph winds and miserable conditions. today it was clear and warm. Needless to say we were ready. In the morning I tree yelped (Watkins) in 3 separate groups of toms with 3 separate misses from a 12 year old. We decided to move to a different area. Parked the truck and hit the McKamey box call and Gobble Gobble. Worked back into the woods and used the yelper (watkins), Glass (Sandford) and Aluminum (Parks) all with Torrman striker to get 4 gobblers and Jake into gun range. 1 Jake stayed about 10 yards away and the Gobblers hung out at about 55 yards. After about 30 minutes the girls just couldn't wait any longer and wanted to kill the Jake. Success she nailed it at about 7 yards. Called my hunting partners and they hadn't heard any so I had them move to me. Walked back to the truck and took some pics and no sooner my buddy pulled up with his other daughter. Took his 9 year old out and walk back into the timber. Hit the box call and BOOM GOBBLE. Used all the calls in my bag to finally get them into range after about 45 minutes and we have a miss at about 8 yards. We hold tight and relocate after about 35 minutes. After a ton of patience this young girl connected with a 27.2 lb monster. It literally is taller than her. She shot it at 29 yards. Finished it with a Marlin Watkins Snakewood yelper. I almost didn't bring it because it's too pretty. Glad I did. Big thanks to all the wonderful call makers on this forum. Couldn't do it without you.

Will do Jeff. Thanks everyone. These girls worked their tales off. We hunted both days until 1pm. Everyone here knows that not easy for kids, heck even some adults.
