Title: What would-yah get if.....
Post by: Spring Dragon on March 28, 2013, 10:40:34 PM
you crossed styles of Frank Hegler, Dave Constantine, Don Bald, Ralph Permar and Matt Mclain?.......

The answer....... Steve Lumma. ;)

If you think about it, his style is like a collective mix from the guys mentioned and a few others.  He and his work has similar backgrounds and attributes.  Just thought it was kinda cool.  I'll break it down.

All have done and are known for some outstanding work(s) with ivory, banding, ferrules, finishes, jewelry and art of sorts. Steve is like the super athlete or cyborg of call making....yeah, cyborg is a good discription. RkLu   Sorry Steve'O, just having fun but being complimentary at the same time buddy.  You've done some outstanding work in your time.----Jason

Yeah, he's the future of decorative call making and being young...he'll be around for a long time.  Imagine what he'll be creating say... 20 years from now :o  I always knew he had something special, even back when he just made simple wingbones.--Jason

A few years ago I told Steve that I expected him to win the Decorative Best of Show with one of his yelpers.  He did not let me down.  He brings fresh air to the art side of call making with work that is sharp, detailed and eye pleasing.  Congratulations Steve.  What's next?

Jason, I just stumbled across this post. Thank you.......
I am extremely flattered by it , and appreciate the support from all of you.
All of the above mentioned have been inspirational to me in one way or another, yet I strive to establish my own style apart from them.
It goes to show what passion, dedication and hard work, with ultimate goals in mind, can push a man to achieve.
I really do not compete to "beat" anyone, but use it as a "nudge" to push my GOD given talents to the highest levels that I can take them to. I am extremely grateful that I found a group of people that appreciate the art of callmaking as much as I do.
In the end, my ultimate goal is to help game cal lmaking ascend into new heights, and make people take notice of what talented instrument makers, and artists this art has to offer.
 Again, Thanks guys !!!!!
