Checked the mail today, and what did I get? A letter frome the Judge of Mercer Co. WV saying I have to be on the ( JURY ) starting April, 15 through June 15 2013. My Spring Gobbler season just got shot in the A-----. *cry*

Lonnie,
You might tell the clerk you are mentally unstable during the spring time and you do not think you could make a sound decision when your mind is totally somewhere else. *lol* *lol*
-
That does stink. Bad part is that the cases will most likely be settled before hand but you still have to be available.
-
Man, that is one thing I don't think I could handle, they would probably be looking for me.
-
Man sorry to hear that, I don't know how to get around it either.

Its called a case of spring fever! ;D
There are ways out but you would need a doctor to help you out. Been there and I would not give up any of my time in spring turkey season. No Way!!! Spring turkey comes around once a year and you never know if you will be here for the next one.

That really sucks Lonnie!!! *aah* *aah* *aah*

darn...that is a bumer. When ya get there and there going thru the selection process, no matter who it is like em or not, tell the court you know them. You'll be in the turkey woods opening morning. It's not right but a man has priority's ya know
-
HEY LONNIE, Lonnie here, chris is right, when they start asking you about cases, say you read about that in the paper, or your second cousin was talking about that, or youve already made up your mind on that case, you'll be in the woods before the hen finishes her tree yelping in the morning, and Chris is also right about how it will seem like you're skirting your duty. BUT MAN, its turkey season and one has their priorities !! ;)
-
whoa Lonnie *cry* *fall*
you are going to have to come up with something for sure----a docs note or a shrinks note. Anything to get ya outta that man......
that would be a #@#$ of a blow for me........
good luck in your "PERSUASION"

Tell them to come get you if they can find you! I got a jury notice too they can kiss my butt plenty off worthless people on unemployment that can do it! I will be damm if im going to work my butt off all year! And get called into jury duty in the middle of hunting season!
-
man that sure would be terrible. I would become a farmer between now and then. Here, farmers can be exempt from jury duty. Good luck.

Called my Doctor this morning, he said if I was able to work I was able to sit in on a hearing. I got a plan. I am not going to take a bath for a month, and only eat onion rings and drink beer. Show up in full camo and face paint. Between stinking like a goat, and passing gas every 2 or 3 min. that should get me in the woods. The only thing I got going for me now is, I call the night before and I can find out if I have to show up the next day. If I was 30 years younger I prob. would know most of the thugs that will be there. I do not read the paper or watch the news, I guss I need to start reading the police bloters in the paper. This just sucks.

Lonnie if all else fails, I could send you some kick butt skunk essence. You can take the plan from there. One thing is sure you will be in the building for only a short time!!! And hey, don't worry when it's on you it doesn't smell that bad after a min or 2. Just say the word and it's on the way.
I'd love to hear the story to go with the essence. *lol*

Things worked out and I was lucky. I had to serve on J. D. the first day and they postponed the trial. I got to hunt the rest of the week. I did not hear a trukey for 3 days. Friday I got on 2 gobblers and killed one of them. Sat. I when back and could not get the other to gobble, worked my way around the Mt. about 1mile and got one to answer me. He took his time coming but he would answer me every time I would call to him. About 40 min. latter he poped up over the logging road bank about 20 yds in front of me. Taged out, after thinking I was not going to get to hunt at all. All in all I had a good WV season. Two nice gobblers, and when I got home Sat. I had a call from work and was told that they got me off J.D. and I had to take over a 50 mile road project, and would be on night shift from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. for the next four months. That would have put the screws to me again. Luck helps. ( Turkey season *up*) ( night shift *cry*) But hay, I have a good job and if I live I will get to retire next year. Good Luck to all
