Title: What kind of tree is this?

Picked up this wood that was left by the side of the road. Anybody have a clue what type of tree its from?

A kind of Birch? I'm not sure.

To me, it almost looks like a sycamore.

The wood looks nothing like my sycamore although the bark resembles sycamore in the spring somewhat. It looks more like Crepe Myrtle. What is the diameter? I have a Crepe Myrtle that looks just like that bark. I will see if my wife can take pictures of both and post um. But we are in GA and you in California???Right?

Yeah I'm in Ca, this tree is about 12 inches in Dia. The bark is about 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick. I picked up this piece and one other that is a huge crotch piece. I get a lot of my wood for calls this way, but usually I know what kind of tree I'm dealing with. Thanks for the help.

Don't ucalyptos grow in California?     I am un-certain if that is what that is and I am also un-certain if I even spelled it right.

I think it is eucalyptus tree (Spelling is correct now).........Does it smell like a Vicks inhaler??   ROTFLMBO

That pic looks a lot like what I have but the wood has little to no smell. Heres a pic of the inside

Definitely not sycamore. Never seen a whole piece of  eucalyptus but the inside does look like Crepe Myrtle but that is bigger than any Crepe Myrtle we have around here.

I Think the smell from eucalyptus comes from the leaves......I may be wrong.
