Title: My new toys
Post by: Porter on February 07, 2013, 09:33:40 PM
Well while I've been away, I've been a very very busy person.  I've started back up in a sport I used to compete in regularly.  I'm not sure why I've taken the urge to get back into handguns, but I have.  I've completed my CCW class and am going through the process of becoming a legal CCW carrier.

Always been a fan of the 1911 platform and after holding and shooting several glock and glock like guns... I just could not pull the trigger on one.  So I ended up becoming a Springfield Armory fan and purchased a 1911 Loaded in 45 and an EMP in 40 S&W.  The more I shoot the better I am getting :P

I love these guns and have blown away a lot of steam lately shooting.  The full size is a dream to shoot.  I've only made one modification and that was to get rid of the two piece guide rod and install a wilson combat in it.  The EMP is stock and she's a shooter!!!

Sorry I know I could have used my spare time on the site instead of shooting, but that way I didn't ban a bunch of people  *aah*

Sweet set Porter. I like a 1911 myself, but most are not something I would want to carry everyday.     I've had my eye on the Springfield XDS (45) for concealed carry.

Thanks guys I passed the check two different times :)  4 times in the last month...

Todd I've ordered a holster that is being custom made and everyone says they are awesome on handling the gun and making you think it's not there... of course...  I'm fat and big and can generally hide things quite well  *lol* *lol*

I'm looking forward to seeing how well I can conceal it and carry it!

Help a Springfield TRP today and the inner voice said.. do not buy it  *peep*

What kind of holster are you getting Porter.  I just bought a Galco, Kink Tuk, IWB Holster.   I wasn't sure I would like an inside waist band, but this one is very comfortable.   I almost bought one from Crossbread (and still may if the wife's not looking).

I bought a Nick Matthews #1.  I wanted a Milt Sparks, but the wait was forever and everyone said they liked Nick's cant better.  He's already started it and should be here soon.

RyanT told me about crossbreeds and I think my emp will be in one of them.  I need to order a belt and I think I'll get it from Crossbreed.

Nick's holster was $92 including shipping and we shall see how I like it.  Everyone talked about how great he was at responding and keeping in touch and I can attest to that.

Here is his website..  http://nm-holsters.com/

I should have my holster soon and will take pics of it.  Now I just have to find a good storage option for the vehicle!

Looks like a quality holster Porter -- looking forward to hearing your thoughts and impressions after a few weeks of carrying your 1911.
