Title: Buffalo horn at both ends
Post by: merocustomcalls on January 16, 2013, 01:41:04 PM
Here's one I made the other day from a piece of Malaysian Blackwood that Joe Slaton gave me....Thanks Joe!  I decided to try a buffalo horn barrel cap to go along with the buffalo horn mouthpiece.  This one is going to the classified section.

Click on the picture to enlarge, thanks for looking!

That is very nice!  Dumb question from here from someone who knows nothing about these calls.  How long are they, and diameter?  Can't really tell the size of it.  I've noticed you guys that build them, have what I'm guessing you call a mouth piece that is round on the end.  What is that for?

They are usually anywhere from 7.5 to 9 inches long.  The mouthpiece is for your mouth to play the call.  It is played just like a wingbone yelper.  You suck in and vibrate your lips together and the sound is amplified out the barrel.
