Title: Chestnut Tobacco Stake !
Post by: Shadetree Callers on December 14, 2012, 12:57:51 PM
Here is a scratchbox I just finished for a friend close to home . Back in October I took my friend Calen on his first fall turkey hunt . As we were walking back in the field after lunch we ran across a broken tobacco stake on the farm . I tossed it aside and told Calen that if he harvested a turkey that day , I would make a call out of that stake . I think he thought I was kidding ,lol. Well after a very successful hunt , I snatched up that stake and tossed it in my car . When I got it home I found out is made from chestnut . I chose to leave it rustic in appearance .Here is the end result of a great hunt with my friend . Hopefully this will help make it a hunt he won't forget .

That a  *cool* call Bob!! You've shown time after time again you can make a caller out of just about any kind of wood. Great job turning a tobacco stick into a turkey killing caller!  *bowing*

There is truly no better way to memorialize a hunt that a handmade call and in this case using wood right from the scene of the hunt--special indeed Bob and I am glad you left the wood alone and stand for the history it possesses.  Great work. *up*
