I built a solar kiln several weeks ago and took the first couple of pieces out to check them today. I had put in spalted "elm" which was fairly dry and box elder which was dripping. I turned a couple of pieces of the "elm" into a predator call and it was perfectly dry *bannana*. The elder was half the weight as when I put it in and I will try a piece of it to see just how dry it is. Being poor I don't have them fancy meters to check moisture content but I do know the water has sure left that elder.
Now to get the 4 trees I had delivered cut up into bite size pieces and into the kiln to dry for more calls. Might just build a bigger one now. Oh and I need a chainsaw, too.

Can't wait to see what you make with that.
How long was it in there?

I can't remember exactly when I put it in but at least 6 weeks ago if not a bit longer. Amazing how well this thing works to be as cheap as they are to build. You need one RkLu
