This is my Grandad , Albert Fulcher from Greenbrier Co. West by God Virginia . This man made the finest blackpowder rifles you could buy and was credited for the rebirth of blackpowder shooting in West Virginia . He also made stringed musical instruments such as dulcimers , banjos, mandolins and guitars . It's no wonder that the turkey calls he made for me when I was a child had a lasting impact on me. He taught me how to make a "slave scratchbox" when I was a teenager and that fueled what is now my passion for making turkey calls for hunting. This was one of the most talented people I have ever known . He actually made his own single cylinder gas engine 100% from scratch except for the carburetor. I still have that engine and it runs like a top. He was a hunter and shooter but also loved animals . Here he is with his pet coon "Billy" . I bear just a little resemblance to him and hope to one day "fill" the big shoes he wore .

Bob, the apple didn't fall far from the tree, for sure! Seems like you picked up were he left off! People don't appreciate what the old timers were able to accomplish. I don't think there are too many folks left like your grand dad. These people were the true pioneers of this country. USA USA

My grandfather owned a machine shop that I messed around in a bit trying to make knives. I sure wish he were here to share the call making with. I miss him alot. Thanx for sharing Bob.

Thats awesome Bob. My grandpa worked in a lumber mill. He took me fishing on the weekends and gave me my first pocket knife. When he passed away my grandma told me I could have anything of his that I wanted. I got his pocket knife. There isn't enough money in the world to buy that knife from me.

TRKYHTR it's funny that you mentioned a knife. There were two different times that a friend and I would be fishing a stream only to find my grandfathers knife stuck in the bank more than a week later where he had cleaned some trout. I would always give it back to him and that's also the one thing I asked for in the end.

When Grandad passed on , I was given the role of caretaker of his rifles . I will post some pics of some . I got his shooting box when he died and it contained his pocket-knife and his favorite screwdriver which I use to put the lids on all my calls . Thanks for the nice comments !

Nice my grandpa was one of them guys that took his watch apart and put back together he had a clock shop and repaired
them i can still see wooden boxes full of brass gears and hear the clocks chime
