I had a guy comment to me the other day that I had posted just another pot call. Well I can assure you this one I got from Bill Lyman, callmakerman, is far from just another pot call. It is a Chestnut pot with a 3 1/4 inch slate playing surface over a glass soundboard. I have short box calls, long box, pot calls, and tree callers made by Bill and I have never run anything made by him that was not pure turkey. This one is also.

Here are some strikers Bill has made. I almost hate to reveal a secret like this. I know how much he loves making these.
left to right: Wenge, Asian Ironwood, Snakewood, Red Cedar, Macassar Ebony, Yellowheart, Bocote, Chestnut, Redheart, Desert Ironwood, Black Locust, Gabon Ebony

I agree with you Rickey, Bill makes a fine call and it's all turkey. His strikers are just as good as his pots. I have about 5 of those strikers, but that yellow heart & glass pot is killer, IMO. Congrats Rickey!
-
Great looking call. Can't wait to run that one. I only have one from him but need a couple more. His strikers are among the best.

Rickey glad your pleased with the call and strikers. I hope you can get a little blood on it before it hits the shelf. I also have a new 4 jaw chuck so turning strikers is not the headache it used to be. *lol*

A fine looking pot and strikers! *up* How about a pic of your short and longbox calls...
-
Tom,
Here are my short boxes and longbox Bill made. One short box is an all-cedar and the other a cherry over wormy butternut. My son and I doubled on two gobblers that came in to the butternut call a couple years ago. The longbox is red cedar over holly.

Jeff,
I believe the inlays on the cedar box call are cocobolo. If Bill sees this he would probably remember for sure what they are.
-
Holy crap Rickey you had to dig those up. *aah* *lol* I haven't made a long box in at least 4 years and the short boxes are going on 3 I think. The inlays in that cedar box are bocote.
