I've always wanted to make a cost style box call. I had no idea where to start or what equipment I needed. Thanks to Scott Tyger who lined me up with what I needed. I ordered a book he suggested but I don't have much patience. So I took a piece of wood I had laying around and started to make one. Several times I wanted to just throw it in the garbage. I finally decided to just finish it. After I put it together I tried it and there was absolutely no sound on the left and barely any sound on the right. I took it inside and put some chalk on it and adjusted the screw and this call came to life. So this is my first ever box call it is a camphor burl box with a walnut lid and a walnut base with walnut inlays. What do you think?

That call looks good, much better than my first try! I didn`t try to inlay or checker till my eighth or tenth call. Keep at it they get easier with time.

Just got off the phone with Joe, and let me say, he picked a burl wood, and man has he got the sound out of her. The call sounds really strong. Keep at it man---you done great onn the first one. *up*
With the way he plays any call he picks up, I am betting it wont take him long to nail it ----good luck Joe
