Post by: 4NWTF on August 29, 2009, 12:36:16 PM
This Chapter was created by the members of the OldGobbler.com (http://oldgobbler.com) Forum Board.

The Chapter is an out reach program through the
NWTF (http://www.nwtf.org) Organization. Please help us in supporting the Federation and our hunting heritage.

What a great cause!  I also recommend joining a chapter.  Whether locally or OldGobbler's, NWTF is for a great cause!

Hopefully we'll grow big enough here to start our own someday too RkLu

Being a Member of the NWTF, is a Good thing . I would suggest to all, to Join your LOCAL CHAPTER , Keep the Home Fires burnig, so to speak.. LOCAL CHAPTERS, INFO, can be found on the NWTF Web Page. Being a Member of your LOCAL CHAPTER, allows for Great Networking, in all areas of Hunting, and you get to meet LOCAL Hunters, and Fellow Members who share the same interest's ... Keep the HOME FIRES BURNING, Join your LOCAL CHAPTER TODAY ....  *up* *ride*

I agree, all local chapters need volunteers but if you don't have a chapter in your area you can always become a member through the  OldGobbler Chapter or go to http://turkey-shoppe.nwtf.org/memberships.html (http://turkey-shoppe.nwtf.org/memberships.html) to join anytime.

However you decide to join and I hope you will consider it, remember our goal is the same, to keep the NWTF FIRE BURNING.  *up*  *ride*

No actually it is quite apparent what message Southern Spur is trying to send with his High Lights and why did SS Custom Calls delete his comment about the thread and the link?  His comments must of been enough evidence of some friction or problem that he or someone felt compelled enough to delete his post and comment.  So yes maybe it appears supportive right now but before the one post was deleted it sure didn't.

SS removed his post after I asked him too.  Like I will remove this one if we do not move on.  That's pretty clear.

I've been in touch with both parties and while some recommend the OG chapter others recommend the Local chapter.  That's it nothing more or less to it.  Difference of how to support a great cause, the NWTF is all it is.  As I stated earlier, I support local chapters.  They are closer to me.  I just recommend to join ONE.

Now I do believe that is VERY clear RkLu

I like to support both and really have a special interest in the Wheelin' Sportsmen end of the organization as I have a family member who loves to hunt but was born disabled and is wheel chair bound.  I love the devotion and support that the NWTF puts toward the disabled hunter.  I highly recommend and support those that support the Wheelin' Sportmen.  *up*

100% agree!!!  One of the MO forums (Missouri Whitetails) I'm on dedicates a lot of their time to helping the disabled and youth.  Here in MO, our Conservation department spends a lot of time helping the disabled too.  Any way we can get more people in the outdoors is a good thing!  NWTF is one of the best outdoor programs I've seen.  That's probably because I'm a turkey hunting nut!

Then we are in agreement that everyone should not only support their local NWTF Chapters but also those ogainizations such as the OldGobbler.com Chapter that support Wheelin' Sportsmen 100%.

Thanks for the clarification.   *cheers* *up*
There are many people that would never have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors without organizations such as these.  *up*

I believe one of our members is a member of Wheelin' Sportsmen, but I'm very interested in learning more about them too!!!

We all have the NWTF to thank for saving our turkey population!!!   I'd go crazy without my love for turkey hunting!

Sorry if my post earlier was misinterpreted. My main point was don't turn it into a local vs. non local chapter debate. That's all. One isn't more important than the other. I totally support the NWTF and donate several calls yearly to several different chapters. Again, sorry for the confusion.

Being a Diamond Life member and a long time supporter of the NWTF I recomend you join a Chapter that is local to you. Every Chapter that I know of not only works for the NWTF as a whole , but they do a lot for your community. My understanding is the Old Gobbler Chapter is an Alabama based chapter and all the "Numbers" etc. go towards that area , not yours. I personally would rather support the programs in my area and get what ever benifits from the NWTF which come from those "Numbers" such as guns for your banquets , food plots on public hunting areas etc. But do get involved , whichever way you decide to do it. Call your local RD and talk to them , you can get their number from the NWTF web site. If you can't find it get in touch with me and I will do what I can to help.

Now why would I send my name and address to a complete stranger over the internet for a hat?  Thanks for the offer by I don't need the hat and I don't just send my address to anyone over the internet.  You could be a scam artist for all I know or even a stalker.  And why would you even offer me a hat as that doesn't even make sense.

Sorry to get you so upset...was just trying to be nice....many people here know me and can attest that I am not a scam artist or a stalker....my offer still stands.

Your understanding is not completely correct, YES the Chapter is based out of Alabama. The OldGobbler Outreach Chapter is internet based, obviously, but like all chapters, needed a physical address. The location was chosen because the guy who had the idea in the first place lives in Alabama, he contacted his local RD to see if it was at all possible to create such a chapter.

Now as far as the "Numbers" go, Alabama gets nothing, all dollars raised go to benefit the Wheelin Sporstman Outreach Program. Alabama gets NO incentive guns either.

I know you know who I am (Irving Whitt) , I don't hide under multible names and go around causing havock and disrupting other forums for what ever reason or reasons you guys have.
I was very instramental in the formation of Old gobbler Outreach Chapter , I met with and had a long talk with the CEO of the NWTF (George Thorton) in December of 08. and I was also at the meeting in Nashville this year at the Convention with the "Heads" of the NWTF. I also was one of the biggest supporters of the Old Gobbler Outreach Chapter. So I don't need you to tell me anything about it. I also know things that I won't disscuss on here , which has changed the way I personally feel about the Chapter , therefore I have disassociated myself with it.

I will remain civil like I told Mike I would and only state the facts that I know are to be true. I only corrected you where you were incorrect, I never said that you were wrong, just not exactly correct. My reply wasnt to you at all, it was for the forum members so that they will understand everything correctly.

In the future please consider being more polite, if in fact you are such a HUGE supporter of the NWTF, why then all the harshness in your tone.......Oh yeah, I forgot....your (Irving Whitt).

OS Mike, I tried, sorry.

It's pretty simple , when I feel something is for the good of others I give my all to support it. When I see something that is wrong , I do what I can to correct it. In this case I 'll put as much distance between it an myself.

C.S ...  What does that stand for . ???  It only goes to show , the very people that run the Chapter can run around trashing people and promoteing the Chapter all at the same time . Go figure.  You guys are so proud of what you do but yet you are scared to post your real name. What are you scared of ?

My main point was don't turn it into a local vs. non local chapter debate.

exactly.  both have their place and are doing good things.  choose whichever is most in line with what you are looking for.
