Recently I got a request for a couple scratchboxes from my friend Burton at the Audubon Gallery in Charleston, SC . He asked for one made from the California Redwood that was salvaged from the stable of famed racehorse "Seabiscuit" , for his lovely daughter , Lily. And to mark his son Holmes' second birthday , he asked for a plain call with his son's initials and the date along with two crossed feathers since Holmes was turning two . I made his call from solid cherry and it really sounded good to my ears .
Here are a few pics that Burton shared with me . I tell ya these kids are adorable and I think he has started them on the right track . Notice that those aren't video games they are playing ! Thanks for sharing with us Burton, I'm glad the calls were a hit ! I can't wait to see 'em roll some gobblers with those calls !

Bob did a wonderful job on these scratch boxes for my children. They sound great, he personalized them in spectacular ways and did it all for me on "the rush". These are their first custom calls (along with one other that came for my son by another great man and call maker on here) that they have owned, graduating from a factory made push-pin and box call. They are still getting used to the two different pieces, but they play with them nearly every day and make decent turkey sounds already and they have not lost any of the parts yet. Thanks again Bob, I will be ordering some more! Starting these kids early will hopefully pay off - more outdoor games, less indoor games and eventually I can sit back and relax while my kids call me in birds. *cool*

It was an honor to be able to build those calls for your beautiful kids my friend. I look forward to the day Lily and Holmes are posing with a big gobbler in front of them !
