Title: "Ring of Fire" Trumpet
Post by: merocustomcalls on July 22, 2012, 12:45:08 PM
After seeing the first trumpet I posted with a captive ring, Neal gave me a piece of flame box elder and wanted me to make one with multiple rings.  He came up with the idea of calling it the "Ring of Fire" trumpet since it is flame box elder.  I thought I could fit more rings on it but I ended up with three.  I did have enough material left over to make a stand for it, something I've never done before.  It's finished off with an Ivory mouthpiece and cork lipstop.  Sometimes it's fun to do something different and challenge yourself.

Click on the pictures to enlarge, thanks for looking.

How does it sound Brian? With the softer wood?

It doesn't sound as good as something like African Blackwood or Snakewood, but it will still kill a bird.
