Sharp looking box, especially for a first one.
-
got to tell on myself here...
Brian started the box last weekend......he had it to trhe point of gluing up the base yesterday morn, when the ole idiot was going to show him how the glue up the base.....mind ya, Brian had done just fine on his own up to this point......
Tghis was some really wormy chestnut he had selected from my stash.....had the glue and was squeezing the body into the mortised base.....and I heard a SNAP........I didnt even have to look---heard it a few times before........I had broked the right soundboard *cry* *aah* *fall*
Ole Brian shook if off better than I did,,,,,,,
He done a good job and shes really singing the tune
Thanks for the kind words ...there is nothing like passing on the illness to someone ;D.
Brain is going to finish tune her today and we will get some finished pics-----
-
You never have to worry about the sides cracking they can be fixed and they sound great, this side gives a great old gobbler sound.

Hah!...if I WAS there this box would actually talk turkey and even look good (pay no attention to the man behind the curtain Brian, *peep*the box looks great) and that Coke Jeff is drinking ...yeah right, ya did see the Popcorn whiskey box lid didn't you.....ah duh!!! ROTFLMBO *bannana*
-
yep---the only gift I ever got from ole Witter---is the reminants of that case of Popcorn.....he stores all his wood in ALL the empty cases he has on hand..... ;D--the boy has a taste for that white lightening !!!
Ole Brian returned to put the final tune in his call this morning---he __for some reason__wouldnt let me close to it *lol*.
He finished it up with the older hen on the right and the younger on the left---both have a snap in the break and some sweet soft talk. Great job on her dude
here is the final picture for ya Brain---ya done good dude RkLu

oh yeah----cant overlook the BENEFIT that came from the tradegy with my action with his call yesterday. Saw Bobs post and it gave us a idea.....yep.......copied Lapps idea and I have been really wanting a super hunting "TROUGH"
caller....so, with Bobs inspiration and some good ole redneck ingenuity....we came up with a new design to give "someone" some competation in the trough call division.....shes a killer ROTFLMBO

Jeff, that is great, I need to get on the list for that new trough box u got there. I am sure it is all turkey and those judges at Nashville will put a ribbon on it! I am shocked you could find the correct materials in the condition of your shop! Brian that looks great man, guess I need to get on two list. I just noticed Jeff is running that trough call with a Torman striker, now I know that runs great!!!!
-
That trough looks awesome Dude!! With Steve's striker running it, I know it worthy of a ribbon!!! *bowing*
-
OKAY the first order of business is congratulations Brian on making your first boxcall I am sorry you now have an incurable disease known as callmaking *up* not to worry it has not slowed me down yet and the white lightning will help keep the disease under control ;D ;D As for the yellow handled short box, well I am speechless *lol* Now for the trough call good luck with her Jeff its a great design and I am sure with one of Steve's strikers it will be a contender *up* you guys have WAY more time on your hands then I do *cheers*
Congratulations again Brian on your first boxcall, You and Jeff done good *up*

They yellow handle box call is special, two guys from PA were trying a new design and thought it needed field testing. That was another story already posted last summer on here. The tough call is innovative in looks and design. Brian now needs help with his addiction, kill a gobbler with it will help with recovery, only for a moment.
-
thanks everybody for the nice words. iam very very happy with the way it sounds .iam glad jeff was looking over my shoulder when tuning it could NOT have done it with out ole snakeboots.there was alot more into it tuning it then i though but i have a good teacher for many years. yea i think JEFF wanted to to harm to the FIRST box so he could come up with his new design of a tough call.. ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO
-
