Title: Kat's gobbler

My wife is my favorite hunting partner. This morning she put one out of his misery. He weighed 19 1/2 lbs. with an 11 3/8" beard and a dissappointing 3/4" set of spurs. I could almost hear her heart beating from the 15' between us. She had a little blueish tint to her as she stopped breathing, with a jake about 15' away from her. *lol* She shot this one at about 15 steps. I had just as soon she kill one that I've called in for her as shoot one myself.

Bill, I tasted victory and defeat today. Killed this gobbler before 7:00. We went to another place to see what might happen. We walked down an old woods road by a pond. When we got down in the corner, I cut a little bit and fell into some yelps with the wingbone. I thought I heard a hen yelp a lick or two. We set up and called some more. After about 45 minutes of hearing or seeing nothing, we decided to move on. After about two hours, we heard a bird gobble right where we had previously set up. I got him all fired up. Trouble was, he was on one side of the pond and us the other. The pond was down low and he could have come around but we decided to cut through the woods and set up on the woods road. Everything was going good. I told Kat to bust him too, it is just as pleasurable for me to see her kill one as it is if I kill him. After about 30 minutes of dualing with this bird, I see a hen coming from his direction. You know what this usaully means. He's not far behind. Did I mention "everything was going good"? She came running up about 30 yards away, everything still good. All of a sudden she takes flight. I thought I had heard a truck up near where mine was parked. I don't know if she saw someone or something. All I know is Mr. Tom never made another peep after she flew off. I even moved to the upper side of him and waited for a while before calling. So, on one hand was victory and the other is still scratching my head.

           Congrats to you and the Katster......You've both hunted hard all season & finally get to taste some success... *cheers*
