Title: Iowa Crappies
Post by: Old Geezer on April 25, 2012, 07:31:36 AM
In addition to a successful hunt, I caught my first black crappies that averaged 14".  These were combined with some big bluegills and white crappies for a fish fry.

The cousin who owned the pond said the biggest black crappie they have cought out of it was 19" long.  It did not take long to learn that you can't horse them in like bass.

My grandaddy would yell at us "DON'T HOTDOG THEM", he didn't want us to lose one! My favorite freshwater fish to eat.
