In addition to a successful hunt, I caught my first black crappies that averaged 14". These were combined with some big bluegills and white crappies for a fish fry.

Those are nice, I've got a pond near my house that is loaded with them, I need to go! I bet that was some good eating! You made me hungry

The cousin who owned the pond said the biggest black crappie they have cought out of it was 19" long. It did not take long to learn that you can't horse them in like bass.

My grandaddy would yell at us "DON'T HOTDOG THEM", he didn't want us to lose one! My favorite freshwater fish to eat.
