Craig i personally like soft tape, cutter and V cut styles, i dont know the thickness of the reeds but on the thinner side, 3 reed styles with cuts to produce a lot of rasp, im no expert but i like the reed tight, some make theirs a little on the loose side.....

Craig,  I really have no preference of the type of tape used, but I like medium to raspy sounding calls.  I prefer 2 3 and 4 reed calls and I like the reeds a little thiner with atleast 1 thicker reed.  Good luck with your call press and mouth call making venture.

Craig -- I can run most any mouth call, but I prefer a stacked frame with stiffer tape, and no cuts.  That produces some pretty awesome rasp.

I agree totally with John, esp. if you're looking for that raspiness.  Good hunting!
