I got this guy yesterday morning at 8:00 sharp. I was hunting with my mom and was trying to get her a shot. She had some little trees blocking her, so she whispered "take him," so I did at about 20 yards. ;D It's the first time we've been able to drive into the swamp this season, and now I remember why I like it so much better in there. The strange birds I've been hunting in the thick piney woods just can't compare to those wide-open bottoms and happy gobbling turkeys! Although, I did bring a lot of that grey mud back with me. Hopefully, the water stays down (knock on wood). I saw a 'yote running out past my bird at about 100 yards; think I stole his lunch. We waited a bit to see if he would take the bait, but he vanished into the wind.

Thanks guys! He was a dirty bird; looked like he'd been jumping around in the mud, snacking on crawfish all morning. No long strands on that beard!

Looks like a fine hunt...congrats *up*( you sure Mom didn't have a shot?) *peep*

*lol* Yeah, I'm sure! The conversation went something like this:
Me: "There he is."
Mom: "Where?"
Me: "Right there in front of me, heading straight for us!"
Mom: "Ok, I can see the tip of his head now."
Me: [he's about 20 yards and closing at this point] "Are you going to shoot him?!?!?!?"
Mom: "No, there's a bunch of trees in my way, you shoot him."
Me: BOOOOOOOM!
;D
Oh, and I didn't even have time to change over to my open choke, so he got a golf ball sized wad of Hevi-shot straight to the face! I don't believe a pellet even made it to his neck, *up*.
