Title: Bad Weather again
Post by: Porter on February 29, 2012, 09:26:47 PM
Not sure how many of you keep up with the weather around here, but we got blasted by tornadoes last night and two of my turkey hunting areas barely escaped tornados.

Ferguson will know the areas I'm talking about and several others will too on here.

Branson was hit pretty hard (nothing like Joplin but then again that's a once in a lifetime freak storm).  Several buildings were destroyed on the strip and by Skaggs hospital.

Buffalo, Conway, Lebanon, and Bennett Springs Area took some damage too.  I have a farm North of Conway and luckily it missed there...

I was making calls and seeing how/who needed help when I was looking through the pictures and low and behold my heart sank.  The place I shot my bird on last year is right by Edgar Springs.  In the photos was the gas station I always stop at and get food and supplies from while up there... only problem is the gas station was no longer standing!  I called the farmers and made sure they were ok.  This storm missed them by about 2 miles!  I hadn't talked to them in a while and it was a relief listening to their voices!!!

The biggest one I've seen so far is an ef2 that touched down, but it was a hairy night in the Ozarks!

Ferguson I didn't hear anything about your area, so I hope all is well that way!!

From pulling an all nighter Monday and getting sick again..  it's been a crazy week!  A tornado was spotted over my home town, but I slept through the sirens... so glad it didn't touch down!

As spring approaches, everyone be safe and careful out there!

We had some pretty bad flooding around here.  Didn't get to me though.  A few roads and driveways washed out.  Some homes flooded.   The creeks are pretty much back in their banks today but they are forecasting more rain tomorrow.

Well another day in paradise up here in the Ozarks.  Supposed to be storms off and on.  Looks like the tornado that hit Branson is an EF3 rated one now...  This area has seen it's share of tornados the last year.  Nothing compared to Joplin, but it's scary all the same!

Everyone be careful as these storms move across the US!

Glad ya made it ok Mike !! It was pretty bad here as well, one thing I hate about living in the flat lands of Missouri...........Had quite a bit of damage North of me but don't think any life's were lost or badly hurt and that is the MAIN thing. As a matter of fact the very first house I looked at buying when I moved here had lots of damage, barn roof gone, tool shed blown down, all the windows and door on the front busted out and two of the four chicken barns across the road are demolished....

I see a storm shelter purchase in the very near future !! Looking for advice and reviews if anyone has one that they would recommend !!
