I was asked by my two youngest daughters if they could go experience what I live around...turkey hunting. I have coached these gals for 9 years with their softball and spent alot of time with them, but only my oldest daughter Hannah is the only one that has ever wanted to go hunting with me,until this season. Hanna's picture is on the cover of my brochure and on my website-when she was 10. That was I admitt is the proudest moment I ever had in my 40 years of hunting. Well, will get a chance to show LeighAnne(my youngest) and Allie(my middle) the sport we all basically live around...turkey hunting. Its hard to make time with their athletic schedule with softball and cheerleading both at school and travel teams..... this is our third time getting the Ole Benelli warmed up to them. They are shooting at 30 yds with only #9 shot and a mod choke. Funny thing here is, the eve of the hunt,,,little elves arrive *peep* and change the #9's for Nitros and a Rhino choke ;D---they will never know it. Their shooting is getting really steady and they are ready to witness the great outdoors wake up at sunrise with gobbeling birds abound. I can wait for the day ...to let them experience what we are so passionate about!!! I just hope they feel it also !!
here they are ....

Get your son out where......
you keep your son in Missouri *wha*
;D---the Whitfields and McCoys would look like a arcade game compared to what trouble Mitchell would get here anywhere close to my little girls *lol*
-
Good job Jeff getting them out with you. Just a great time to bond with your kids. My fondest memories of my turkey hunts have been with my son. He killed his first one when he was 7 sitting in my lap. He is married now but it seems like yesterday.

Nothing better then spending time with your family in the woods.

This is all a plan to increase the Undertakers to a 8 member team?? I can see it now.... Well.....
every morn I have been out patterning some birds close to home here in good ole Ooltewah. Got my finger on these two groups and the lead CANADATES for Allie and LeighAnne's first ever hunt.
The first picture---I have been watching a flock of 167 birds flydown every day together. There are only 7 longbeards in the group though.2 grey phase hens , a PILE of jakes anf the rest hens. Looks like Allie is in for some real cardio that morning.I have named this group of gobblers the "Gatekeepers".
Hope Allie puts a RED DOT on one of dems head. The second picture is them first starting to settle their differences--they have been getting along well until today---its getting close !!!
The 3rd picture is a strong potential target for LeighAnne. He is the only longbeard I have been watching in this little flock, but they do the same thing every day. Hope she is lucky with my scouting for her.
This makes me so nervious--nothing like when I hunt---I want them to witness, and feel what this sport means to all of us. I would love to video the hunt, but keeping up with them, the birds and my excitement in the moment, I am just afraid to try to pull that off also.

With this group of six hunters, those fenced turkeys still have a 95% chance, or better, of surviving the season. I think one would have to pitch off the roost branch, lodge himself in the fence links, and die of strangulation for you guys to get on the board.
